The President of the Republic approved the bill on next year’s unemployment insurance contributions on 15 December 2023. According to the enacted law, the total amount of unemployment insurance contributions will decrease significantly for 2024.
Employers’ average contribution is 0.82% of the wages, which is 0.72 percentage points less than in 2023. Employers’ average contribution includes a share of 0.03 percentage points that is used to finance transition security. Employees’ contribution is 0.79% of the wages, which is 0.71 percentage points less than in 2023.
Employers’ lower contribution is 0.27% of the wage sum (up to a maximum of EUR 2,337,000 per year), and the higher contribution is 1.09% of the wage sum (for the part that exceeds EUR 2,337,000).

The confirmed unemployment insurance contributions are in line with the proposal made by the Employment Fund in August 2023.
The payment liability limit for unemployment insurance contributions will increase in 2024. Next year, the employer is liable to pay unemployment insurance contributions if the employer pays more than EUR 1,500 in wages during the calendar year. In 2023, the limit for the payment liability was EUR 1,400. The limit is adjusted by index and rounded to the nearest EUR 100 annually.
